Leatherhead based charity Crossroads Care Surrey is delighted to announce the establishment of another of its adult social care clubs in Nutfield, Surrey on 16th August.
The Clubs are run to provide a respite from caring responsibilities for those people who provide unpaid care at home to a family member, relative, friend or neighbour. Clubs run by Crossroads Care Surrey provide not only the Carer time away from their caring responsibilities but it also enables the person they care for time in the company of others, away from their home.
Sheila Hargreave, Adult Club Manager for Crossroads Care Surrey says: ‘Each of our Clubs provides a valuable breathing space for those who care for a loved one at home. We know, from what those that provide unpaid care have told us that the time spent away from their caring responsibilities allows them the space to do those jobs, such as the weekly shop, many of us take for granted.’
Sheila added ‘We run a variety of Social Clubs for Adults with varying physical disabilities including dementia. All of our Club sessions are provided at a low cost to give Carers an extended, affordable break of 4 hours. Our Clubs run at various locations across Surrey and meet on both weekdays and Saturdays and we are delighted to be running a Club in Nutfield.’
Every Crossroads Care Club’s is led by a Team Leader, supported by our highly trained, professional Carer Support Workers and Volunteers. They create a safe, welcoming environment where your loved one can meet other people in a relaxed social setting and can enjoy participating in meaningful activities which are specifically tailored to the individual’s preferences. Attending a Club can help improve the physical, mental and emotional well-being of your loved one. It also helps reduce the sense of isolation that they many feel.
