Crossroads Care Surrey Thanks Volunteers with Afternoon Tea

Crossroads Care Surrey – the Surrey based charity that provides respite breaks for unpaid Carers – recently held its inaugural volunteer appreciation afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea, which took place at The Thatcher’s Hotel, was held to thank the Crossroads Care Surrey volunteers who support the Adult and Children’s Clubs. The hotel generously donated the use of the room for free.

“It was a pleasure and privilege to have afternoon tea with some of our volunteers who bring such a lot of life experience, enthusiasm and creativity to our clubs. I am greedily looking forward to meeting more of our volunteers at the next tea! ”

Jenni Pringle, Care Operations Manager.

During the afternoon tea, Crossroads Care Surrey’s CEO, Christine Cleveland, thanked the volunteers for their hard work and contribution to the charity’s important services.

“It was wonderful meeting the volunteers who work at different clubs and I hope to continue to support Crossroads Care Surrey, a great organisation, for many more years” Harriet, Volunteer

The volunteers and staff representatives spent the afternoon enjoying delicious treats whilst sharing their passion for the work that they do and what they bring to club sessions – ranging from cooking skills to Zumba!

“A gathering of volunteers enjoyed a splendid afternoon tea at the Thatchers Hotel. We enjoyed communicating our experiences at our various clubs to which we give our time and life time expertise!” Eunice, Volunteer

“It was nice to meet some of the Management team and put faces to names. It was also great to hear about the charity’s plans going forward!” Barbara, Volunteer

Crossroads Care Surrey provides respite breaks at home and in the community at their Social Clubs for Adults with varying disabilities including dementia and their children’s Saturday club for children with disabilities and complex health needs. All Clubs are available at a low cost to give Carers an extended, affordable break. Going forward the charity is developing new services such as assisted holiday breaks and live in care.

Crossroads is looking to recruit more volunteers for their clubs in Effingham, Worplesden and Reigate. The role involves helping to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, assisting with activities and games, as well as helping with refreshments.
