Remember us in your will

Every gift in every will, however large or small, makes a difference. It is very easy to include us, all you need is our name, address and registered charity number.

Our long-term vision is to give every unpaid carer in Surrey the support they need, for as long as they need it. Free of charge.

For some, this support might be in the form of weekly respite breaks, access to practical online help, others it might be the option to pick up the phone to a 24-hour helpline. But for as long as they need us, we want to be there for them, for free.

Remember us in your will and help us make this long-term vision a reality. Even 1% can be left to Crossroads Care Surrey in your will, so those closest to you inherit 99%. All you need is our name, address and registered charity number.

A recent survey of the unpaid carers we support revealed that 8 in 10 spend over 40 hours a week caring for a spouse, relative or friend. That’s more than the hours spent in a full-time job. Further, what 6 in 10 unpaid carers needed the most, was just to be able to take a break, something 81-year-old unpaid carer Mary can appreciate.

Mary married her husband Phillip (86) in 1964. They have two sons, one daughter and one grandson. Mary has been caring for Phillip for the last 12 years, after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and later Parkinson’s dementia. For them, the dementia is the hardest to live and cope with. She explains that even in her dreams she is on constant alert. We have been supporting Mary and Phillip for a couple of years now. Our respite care allows Mary to still take part in what she enjoys, with the peace of mind to attend such things as arts society events and U3A. She knows that Phillip is looked after, so she can take time to care for herself. When we asked her what three words best describe what we do for her, she answered: “Keeps me sane.”

Our goal is to continue to provide support to unpaid carers for however long we are needed. Can you help us create this reality?

What types of gifts can you leave?

There are two main ways of leaving a gift in your will:

Residuary gift

This is a share of your estate. After you have provided for your loved ones, you can leave a share or remainder of your estate to us.

Pecuniary gift

This is a cash gift where you leave an exact sum of money to us.

Whatever or however you decide to remember us in your will, we appreciate your support. We’re so very grateful for every single gift we receive. When you add them all together, they make a big difference.
